Candid & Editorial West Coast Wedding Photography
You stay inside the celebration; we notice what is unfolding and step in with calm direction when a portrait deserves intention. The result is expressive, polished, and unmistakably yours.
Wedding photographs that feel like the day
Our approach brings documentary observation and editorial intention into the same gallery: rich color, confident contrast, professional retouching, and direction that never asks you to perform the whole day.
Candid moments
We watch for gestures, reactions, and the in-between exchanges that cannot be recreated.
Editorial portraits
When a portrait benefits from intention, we offer clear, calm direction for posture, movement, hands, and light.
Details and atmosphere
We photograph the objects, spaces, weather, and reception energy that give the story its setting.
“J.D. was not only talented but also incredibly personable. He made everyone feel comfortable and captured genuine moments.”

A calm, written process
From inquiry to gallery delivery
- 01Share the date and place.
We confirm availability and learn whether you are considering photography, videography, or coordinated coverage.
- 02Build the right proposal.
Your proposal identifies the assigned roles, hours, travel, deliverables, rights, and any optional additions—so nothing important depends on a generic package label.
- 03Plan the day together.
We work through timing, locations, family groups, light, portrait priorities, and the moments that need room to unfold naturally.
- 04Photograph, protect, and deliver the work.
After the wedding, the photographs move through selection, professional retouching, quality review, and the delivery process stated in your proposal.
A practical decision guide
How to choose a wedding photographer
Look beyond a small highlight grid. Ask to see complete wedding stories in conditions similar to yours, then compare how each photographer handles changing light, family formals, movement, reception color, and ordinary in-between moments.
- StyleDo candid photographs and directed portraits both feel believable?
- CommunicationDoes the photographer explain how planning, direction, and the wedding-day team will work?
- ConsistencyDo full galleries stay strong after sunset and inside reception spaces?
- ProposalAre hours, photographers, travel, delivery, download and print rights, albums, and optional additions written clearly?
- FitCan you imagine receiving useful direction from this person and also forgetting the camera is there?

Calm presence
Direction when you want it, space when you do not
Family formals and portraits get an organized plan. During the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, we make room for events to unfold while staying attentive to light, movement, and the people you care about.
Clear roles. Clear expectations.
Team roles and coverage planning
Your proposal identifies who is responsible for photography, whether a second photographer is included, and how photography and videography roles are coordinated. We plan positioning and portrait direction together so the day is not pulled between competing requests. Videography-only and combined coverage remain distinct options; the proposal states exactly which team is assigned.
Delivery, rights, safeguards, and travel
Your proposal is the source of truth for the delivery window, gallery format, download and personal print rights, album choices, travel, and any location-specific costs. We also explain the safeguards used for the assigned coverage and how files move into the post-production workflow. If a raw-file request, commercial use, venue restriction, or destination plan matters to you, ask before booking so the written agreement can address it directly.
A day with breathing room
How we build a photography-friendly timeline
We work backward from ceremony time, travel, sunset, and the moments you value most. Your planning conversation covers getting-ready access, whether you want a first look, a concise family-formal list, portrait windows, and enough breathing room to stay present. Start with the wedding-day timeline examples and checklist, then adapt the structure to your venue and priorities.
Photography and videography without competing teams
With one coordinated team, positioning, portrait direction, audio, and timeline decisions are planned together. Videography preserves movement, vows, speeches, and family voices while the photographs hold the single frames you will return to. When photography and videography are booked together for six or more hours, current coverage includes $1,000 off; qualifying eight-plus-hour combined coverage may include a complimentary engagement session. We’ll confirm the current offer in your proposal.

Useful answers before you inquire
Wedding photography FAQs
Will you help us pose?
Yes. We offer direct, uncomplicated guidance when it helps and step back when the moment is already working.
How many photographers will be there?
The assigned team depends on the timeline and coverage selected. Your proposal will identify the photography roles instead of leaving the team size implied.
What rights come with the gallery?
Your proposal states the download and personal print rights attached to the delivered gallery. If you need commercial publication, vendor use, or another specific license, ask before booking so it can be addressed in writing.
Can photography and videography be planned together?
Yes. A single planning process keeps the two forms coordinated while protecting the experience of the day.
How do you handle family formals?
We build a concise list with you, identify a person who can help gather each group, and place the portraits where the timeline and light make sense.
