CALIFORNIA WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER • SAN DIEGO TO WINE COUNTRY

Your California wedding, filmed so the voices and the golden light last longer than the day.

One day. Everyone you love. Then it's over — unless you can press play. As your California wedding videographer and photography team, we keep the vows, the toasts, and the coastline glow safe for the next forty years.

A newlywed couple looks at each other from a vintage convertible.

Does any of this sound familiar?

You've fallen down the rabbit hole of California wedding films — cliffside drone shots, desert sunsets, the same acoustic cover — and you still can't tell who would actually get your people.

You've booked the venue, the florist, maybe the photographer. But the idea of never hearing your vows — or your mom's shaky toast — again keeps tapping you on the shoulder at 2 a.m.

Your guest list spans three states, and you want to spend your wedding day inside it — not managing a camera crew or worrying whether the video team knows what a June marine layer does to a 5 p.m. ceremony.

It's not your fault they all blur together. Your film won't — because we build it from your people, your vows, your actual day.

With cinematic film and photography from one coordinated team, you'll relive your wedding whenever you want — and someday, your grandkids will hear your vows in your own voice.

We're your videographers if…

  1. You want to hear the day again, not just see it.

Photos give you the look on his face. Film gives you your own voice mid-vow, your best friend's toast, the laugh during the ring exchange. We capture clean audio of every word that matters and weave it through your film.

  2. You want the getting-ready hours filmed with intention.

The robe-and-champagne morning. Your mom zipping the dress. The playlist your group chat picked. We plan this session with you ahead of time — styled, unhurried, never grabbed on the way out the door. Planning makes this footage, not luck.

  3. You want a film with a point of view.

Editorial styling, a vintage getaway car, portraits in a eucalyptus grove or against a desert horizon — yes, please. We shoot documentary coverage all day, but our signature work happens in pre-planned couples' sessions where you both get genuinely comfortable on camera. (Grooms, this part is for you.)

  4. You want the nerves gone before the wedding day.

Our stylized 1–2 hour engagement sessions turn camera-shy into camera-confident — on a Southern California beach at golden hour, in a vineyard, wherever feels like you. By your wedding day, being filmed feels like nothing.

  5. You want cinema, not cheese.

Trends expire; your film shouldn't. Every package includes professional retouching and elevated editing — a clean, cinematic grade that will still look right in twenty years. Digital capture gives us the latitude to deliver exactly that.

  6. You want someone protecting your moments when the timeline slips.

Coverage time is the first thing cut when a schedule runs late — we've seen it happen at weddings where we were hired for film alone. So we start earlier, stay longer, and advocate for your shots with your coordinator. Most couples book 10–12 hours with us, because that's where the once-in-a-lifetime footage lives.

Prefer a one-camera guy who stays invisible and shoots Super 8? No hard feelings — book us for photography only instead. ;)

The Engagement Session Promise

You can't choose a California wedding videographer from a highlight reel — every reel looks good for ninety seconds. So don't. Come shoot with us first, at no cost. If you don't love your engagement photos and footage, don't hire us for the wedding. No invoice, no hard feelings, no follow-up pressure.

Every couple who has taken us up on this has booked the wedding. We're not worried either.

All-In-One Convenience

Hiring us means one coordinated team for your film and your photos. One style across everything you receive. No two crews tripping over each other during your first dance.

Book photography and film together and you save $1,000 — and your engagement session is included.

One contract, one timeline, one consistent look — and because one team genuinely costs less to run, booking both puts $1,000 back toward the honeymoon. Your engagement session comes with it.

How this works

  1. Check your date. Tell us when and where in California — San Diego, wine country, the desert, the city — and we'll send full pricing and availability within two business days.
  2. Meet us first. A consultation or your free engagement session, so you know exactly how it feels to have us filming before you commit to anything.
  3. Live your wedding. We'll handle capturing it.

Don't choose us from a website. Come shoot with us first, at no cost. Love your engagement photos, or don't book us for the wedding — no invoice, no hard feelings.

It's hard to know who to choose. Try us out in an engagement session at no cost. Don't like your engagement photos? Don't hire us for your wedding! We're not worried — everyone who has taken us up on this offer has hired us for their wedding.

We're not the cheapest studio filming California weddings, and we won't pretend to be. Investment starts at $4,000 for photography and $7,000 for photography and videography. You're trusting us with the one day that can't be re-shot — that's where the money goes.

Hi, I'm J.D.

— I started Wildwood Wedding Films & Photography in 2019 after a career in classrooms from Texas to the Bronx. Teaching trained me for wedding days: nothing rattles me anymore. Since then I've filmed 150+ weddings across Oregon, Washington, and California, including real San Diego celebrations at 27 Acres Estate and along the Sunset Cliffs coastline. Off duty, I belay my twin daughters at the climbing gym. Tell me what you're planning.

Where we film California weddings

We're an Oregon-based team that keeps coming back to California — we've filmed real weddings at 27 Acres Estate in San Diego's North County and on the cliffs above the Pacific. Southern California's light is why. The marine layer burns off, the golden hour runs long, and your film gets a backdrop no studio can fake.

From a San Diego coastline ceremony to a Temecula vineyard to a Palm Springs desert evening — the backdrop changes, the keeping doesn't.

Let's make it happen. Tell us your California date and venue — even a rough one — and you'll get honest availability, a detailed pricing guide, and zero pressure either way.

Across 150+ weddings, no two films of ours match. Yours will be built from scratch — your guest list, your coastline, your day's own rhythm.

California weddings, filmed to be rewatched for decades.

Natalie & Tarek — The Allison Inn & Spa Wedding FilmYouTube

Cliff ceremony in San Diego or a ballroom in Los Angeles, your coverage follows the same rule: film what actually happened, in the light that was actually there.

The heirloom part comes from your people. We put your closest loved ones on camera — the maid of honor, your grandfather, the friend who set you up — and let them talk.

There's one part of your wedding you won't get to witness: what your favorite people say about you when you're out of the room. We make sure you do.

Want in on it? We love sitting couples down together to talk about how loving each other has changed them.

Because our team shoots hybrid — photo and video in the same hands — no two cameras chase the same moment. While one of us works the details, another records your grandmother's story.

Then it all comes together: interviews, vows, toasts, the laughter between. One film, built to be watched in forty years.

California wedding videography questions, answered

What kinds of wedding films do you make?

You receive a cinematic highlight film — the one you'll rewatch on anniversaries — plus a full ceremony film so nothing said at the altar is lost. Our heirloom films weave in on-camera interviews with your loved ones alongside your vows and toasts, so your film sounds like your family, not a stock track.

Will you capture clear audio of our vows and speeches?

Yes — that's the whole point of hiring a videographer. We mic the ceremony and record dedicated audio of your vows and toasts, whether you're on a breezy San Diego clifftop or in a barrel room. Wind and surf are planned for, not improvised around.

Can we book videography only?

Absolutely. Hire us for videography alone, photography alone, or both. Booking photo and film together saves you $1,000 and includes your engagement session — but if your photographer is set and you need a film team, we're glad to fill that role.

Do you use a drone?

Where venue rules and airspace allow, yes — California's coastlines, vineyards, and desert horizons are worth the aerial when conditions cooperate. If wind or venue policy grounds the drone, your ground coverage is unaffected and the film doesn't suffer.

How far will you travel within California, and when do we get our film?

We're Oregon-based and available for weddings across California — San Diego weddings are documented in our portfolio. Travel specifics and your exact delivery window are confirmed in writing with your pricing guide before you book.
