The average US wedding cost $34,200 in 2025, with couples hiring 13 vendors on average. Couples who set budgets over $40,000 spent $70,300 on average — and 77% of those who adjusted their budgets adjusted them upward. Nearly half found their initial budget fell short of actual costs.

The average that doesn't apply to you
Here's the picked fight. Planner Annie Lee put it plainly in The Knot's own coverage: you can spend $50 on a wedding, or $5.5 million and have Adele perform. The $292 national average blends both into one meaningless midpoint.

- New England coast, $472,000, 65 guests — accommodations buyout $90,000; the bride's fashion $70,000; florals $52,000.
- Mexico weekend, $537,230, 245 guests — photography $53,600; food and beverage $91,381; lighting $32,175.
- Tuscany, €1,125,034, 108 guests — accommodations buyout €384,775; entertainment €89,288.

The $100K tier, audited
Six figures doesn't always mean six figures spent. Burst Weddings, a Chicago planning studio, published two real budgets with final-versus-target math.
One couple aimed at $100K and landed at $91,159.85 for 166 guests. A weekend camp wedding aimed at $100K and finished at $121,718 for 80 guests — with $22,540 going to planning alone.
At this level, minimums set the floor. Australian planner Mellyrain's $100K breakdown pegs florist minimums near $5,000, architectural florals at $10,000 and up, and hair and makeup at $150–250 per person per service.

And prices keep moving. Zola's 2025 forecast put the national average at $36,000 — up roughly 30% since 2019 — with 11% of couples now spending $60,000 or more.
