CARLSBAD WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER • NORTH COUNTY COAST

Your Carlsbad wedding, filmed so the ranunculus, the speeches, and the salt air never fade.

One team for your film and your photos — from vows among fifty-five acres of blooming ranunculus to receptions above Batiquitos Lagoon. If you want a Carlsbad wedding videographer who captures the day as it actually felt, keep reading.

Does any of this sound familiar?

You've booked a venue with a view — the Flower Fields, a lagoon resort, a golf course above the Pacific. Now you need someone who can actually do that view justice on film.

Your guest list is big. Your family is flying in. And you keep thinking about the people who can't be there — and whether they'll ever get to hear the toasts.

You've seen wedding films that feel like perfume ads. Yours should feel like the day: your grandfather's handshake, your niece stealing the dance floor, the wind off the lagoon.

The day will fly by. The film doesn't have to.

With photography and videography from one coordinated team, nothing gets missed and nobody competes for the shot. You'll rewatch the vows, replay the speeches, and show the whole thing to kids and grandkids who weren't born yet.

  1. You want the morning captured like it matters. Because it does.

Hair done, makeup fresh, your favorite people around you. We plan a styled pre-dress session — never a rushed snapshot on the way out the door. One of our favorite mornings happened at a rural wedding with no professional coordinator at all. We planned it with the bride ahead of time, and the footage was gorgeous anyway. Planning makes these moments — not budget.

  2. You want portraits and film footage that get real time, not leftovers.

On most wedding days, couples' coverage gets a few minutes borrowed from the schedule. We book a dedicated session — separate time, separate location, before the first look or the day before. At Carlsbad's resorts and gardens, that extra hour is where the footage you'll frame comes from.

  3. You want imagery with a strong point of view.

Themes, motifs, vintage cars, editorial look-book styling — bring it on. We shoot documentary coverage all day, but our signature work happens in dedicated, pre-planned couples' sessions, where we take real time getting you both comfortable. (Grooms, we're looking at you.)

  4. You'd rather meet the cameras now than on the wedding day.

Our stylized 1–2 hour engagement sessions turn camera-shy into camera-confident. In Carlsbad, that might mean the historic adobe grounds at Leo Carrillo Ranch — peacocks included — or the shoreline below the Flower Fields. When your wedding day arrives, the cameras will feel easy.

  5. You want a bold, fashion-forward finish.

Professional retouching and elevated editing are included in every package — gallery and film alike. We shoot digital on purpose. It gives us far more latitude to refine every image and every frame you receive.

  6. You want someone protecting your time on the day.

Coverage time is the first thing cut when a timeline slips. We've watched it happen at weddings where we were hired for video alone. So we start earlier, stay longer, and advocate for your shots with your coordinator. Most of our couples book 10–12 hours. That time is where the once-in-a-lifetime images actually come from.

Prefer a photographer who stays invisible and shoots film? No hard feelings — book us for videography instead. ;)

The Engagement Session Promise

There are hundreds of good videographers, and they all look the same on a screen. So don't decide from a screen. Come shoot with us first, at no cost — among the ranunculus if you're here in bloom season, or along the lagoon any time of year. If you don't love your engagement photos and footage, don't hire us for the wedding. No invoice, no hard feelings, no follow-up pressure.

Every couple who has taken us up on this has booked the wedding. We're not worried either.

All-In-One Convenience

Hiring us means one coordinated team handling both photo and video. Fewer vendors to manage, and a cohesive style across your wedding gallery and your film.

Book photography and film together and you save $1,000 — and your engagement session is included.

One contract. One timeline. One consistent look from the first photo to the final frame. And because one team genuinely costs less to run than two, booking both puts $1,000 back in your budget — with your engagement session included.

How this works

  1. Check your date. Tell us when and where — we'll send the full pricing and availability guide within two business days.
  2. Meet us first. A consultation or your engagement session, so you know exactly how it feels to have us around before you commit to anything.
  3. Live your wedding. We'll handle capturing it.

Don't choose us from a website. Come shoot with us first, at no cost. Love your engagement session, or don't book us for the wedding — no invoice, no hard feelings.

It's hard to know who to choose. So try us out at no cost first. Don't like your engagement photos? Don't hire us for your wedding. We're not worried, because everyone who has taken us up on this offer has hired us for their wedding.

We're not the cheapest studio working in North County, and we won't pretend to be. Investment starts at $4,000 for photography and $7,000 for photography and videography. You're trusting us with the one day that can't be re-shot — that's where the money goes.

Hi, I'm J.D.

— the teacher-turned-videographer-and-photographer behind Wildwood Wedding Films & Photography. Since 2019 I've captured 150+ weddings across Oregon, Washington, and California, including San Diego County celebrations at 27 Acres Estate and along the bluffs at Sunset Cliffs. Before that, I spent my career in classrooms from Texas to the Bronx — which is why nothing on your wedding day will rattle me. Off the clock, I'm belaying my twin daughters at the climbing gym. Tell me what you're planning in Carlsbad.

Explore weddings across North County San Diego

We're based in Oregon, and we travel to film weddings throughout San Diego County — Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Jolla, and beyond. We know this coast's rhythms: the ranunculus bloom that peaks March through May at the Flower Fields, the marine layer mornings, the clear golden light that follows.

From the peacocks at Leo Carrillo Ranch to the resorts above Batiquitos Lagoon — the setting changes, the keeping doesn't.

Tell us your date and your Carlsbad venue. We'll come back fast — two business days — with open dates, honest pricing, and zero pressure.

150+ weddings in, the one constant is difference. No two couples, no two films. Yours starts with what was actually in the room — and ends up looking like nobody else's.

A Carlsbad wedding film your grandkids will beg to watch.

Natalie & Tarek — The Allison Inn & Spa Wedding FilmYouTube

Whether you're planning a grand resort celebration above Batiquitos Lagoon or an intimate ceremony among the adobe walls of Leo Carrillo Ranch — our approach stays the same. Genuine, documentary-style memories and magazine-worthy images where you look confident and natural. Even if you're camera shy.

Heirloom Films with Interviews: pretty footage alone doesn't make an heirloom — voices do. So on your wedding day, we record short on-camera interviews with the people who know you best.

You can't be everywhere on your own wedding day. While you're cutting the cake, your college roommate is telling the story of how you met. We capture what you'd otherwise never hear. Your people tell your love story for you.

We also love turning the interview chairs on you two. If you're game, tell us how your love has changed you.

Hybrid shooting is how we pull this off. Each of us captures photo and video from the same camera, so no two lenses ever chase the same moment. One of us films your details while another sits down with your Maid of Honor.

In the edit, interviews, vows, toasts, and candid moments become one story — yours. The finished film is built to be rewatched for decades. By you first. By your grandkids later.

Carlsbad wedding videographer FAQs

What film options do you offer for a Carlsbad wedding?

Most couples choose a highlight film, a full ceremony film, or both. Our signature heirloom film weaves highlight coverage with on-camera interviews from your loved ones, plus your vows and toasts. Your pricing guide lays out every option before you commit to anything.

Will our vows and speeches actually be audible in the film?

Yes — we record audio on dedicated equipment separate from the cameras. Outdoor Carlsbad venues come with wind off the ocean and the lagoons, so we mic the ceremony and reception properly. Vows, officiant, toasts: you'll hear every word clearly.

Do we have to book photography too, or can we hire you for film only?

Film-only bookings are welcome, and we work smoothly alongside outside photographers. Booking both from our one team, though, saves you $1,000 and includes your engagement session. Either way, you get the same heirloom approach — interviews, clean audio, and full-day coverage.

Can you fly a drone at Carlsbad wedding venues?

Often, yes — aerial footage is gorgeous over the Flower Fields and the lagoons. Parts of Carlsbad sit in controlled airspace near McClellan-Palomar Airport, and some venues restrict flights, so we confirm permission in advance. Either way, your full cinematic ground coverage is never affected.

How long until we get our finished film?

Heirloom films take careful editing — interviews, vows, and toasts are woven together by hand. Rush isn't the goal; a film your family keeps for decades is. Your contract and pricing guide state your exact delivery window before you book, so there are no surprises afterward.
