LA JOLLA WEDDING VIDEOGRAPHER • SAN DIEGO COAST

Your La Jolla wedding, filmed above the coves  every vow, every toast, kept for a lifetime.

One coordinated team for your film and your photos, from clifftop ceremonies at the Cove to hacienda courtyards at Estancia. If you're searching for a La Jolla wedding videographer who keeps the elegance and skips the intrusion, you've found your team.

Does any of this sound familiar?

You've chosen a venue people dream about — the Pink Lady's terrace, a courtyard at Estancia, the cliffs above the Cove. Now you're worried the film won't live up to the setting.

You want candid, unposed coverage. You also want to look like yourselves on the most dressed-up day of your lives — and you have no idea what to do with your hands.

Everyone you love, gathered above the Pacific for one day — and you want to be present for it, not managing a camera crew.

You won't get these moments back — so we make sure you never have to give them up.

With professional photography and cinematic videography handled by one team, you'll relive your wedding day over and over — and share it with your future children and grandchildren decades from now.

  1. You want bridal portraits that are more than an afterthought.

On most wedding days, the bride gets a minute or two borrowed from the couples' session. We schedule a dedicated portrait session just for you. Separate time, separate location, before the first look — or even the day before. La Jolla light on a quiet morning, and nowhere else you need to be.

  2. You want the robe-and-champagne morning captured.

Hair done, makeup fresh, your favorite people around you — we plan a styled pre-dress session, never a rushed snapshot on the way out the door. One of our favorites happened at a rural wedding with no professional coordinator at all. Because we planned it with the bride ahead of time and knew her taste, the photos and footage were gorgeous anyway. Planning makes these images — not budget.

  3. You love portraits with a point of view.

Themes, motifs, vintage cars, editorial look-book styling — bring it on. La Jolla was made for this: cove light, sandstone, bougainvillea. We shoot documentary coverage all day, then take real time in a dedicated couples' session getting you both comfortable. (Grooms, we're looking at you.)

  4. You'd like to be camera-confident before anyone walks down an aisle.

Our stylized 1–2 hour engagement sessions turn camera-shy into camera-confident. Around La Jolla, couples love the Windansea shoreline or the Torrey Pines bluffs for these. When your wedding day arrives, the photography will feel easy.

  5. You want a bold, fashion-forward look.

Professional retouching and elevated editing are included in every package, on film and photo alike. We shoot digital on purpose — it gives us far more latitude to refine every image you receive.

  6. You want someone in your corner.

Photo and film time is the first thing cut when a timeline slips. We've watched it happen at weddings where we were hired only for video. The day flies by, and the portraits the bride envisioned never happen. So we start earlier, stay longer, and advocate for your shots with your coordinator. Most couples book 10–12 hours of coverage. That time is where the once-in-a-lifetime images actually come from.

Prefer a crew that stays invisible and shoots on film stock? No hard feelings — book us for photography instead. ;)

The Engagement Session Promise

Choosing a videographer from a website is nearly impossible — there are hundreds of good ones, and they all look the same on a screen. So don't choose from a website. Come shoot with us first, at no cost — on the bluffs above the Cove, or wherever feels like you. If you don't love your engagement photos, don't hire us for the wedding. No invoice, no hard feelings, no follow-up pressure.

Every couple who has taken us up on this has booked the wedding. We're not worried either.

All-In-One Convenience

Hiring us means one coordinated team handling both photo and video. That's fewer vendors to manage and a cohesive style across your wedding gallery and film.

Book photography and film together and you save $1,000 — and your engagement session is included.

One team means one contract, one timeline, and one consistent style — and because one team genuinely costs less to run, booking both puts $1,000 back in your budget. Your engagement session comes with it.

How this works

  1. Check your date. Tell us when and where — we'll send the full pricing and availability guide within two business days.
  2. Meet us first. A consultation or your engagement session, so you know exactly how it feels to have us around before you commit to anything.
  3. Live your wedding. We'll handle capturing it.

Don't choose us from a website. Come shoot with us first, at no cost. Love your engagement photos, or don't book us for the wedding — no invoice, no hard feelings.

It's hard to know who to choose. Try us out in an engagement session at no cost. Don't like your engagement photos? Don't hire us for your wedding! We're not worried because everyone who has taken us up on this offer has hired us for their wedding.

We're not the cheapest team filming weddings on this coast, and we won't pretend to be. Investment starts at $4,000 for photography and $7,000 for photography and videography. You're trusting us with the one day that can't be re-shot — that's where the money goes.

Hi, I'm J.D.

— the founder of Wildwood Wedding Films & Photography. I came to weddings from classrooms. Before 2019, I taught in schools from Texas to the Bronx, which is why nothing on your wedding day rattles me. Since then, I've captured 150+ weddings across Oregon, Washington, and California. Among them: San Diego County days at 27 Acres Estate and on the sandstone at Sunset Cliffs, just down the coast from La Jolla. When I'm not filming, I'm belaying my twin daughters at the climbing gym. I'd love to hear what you're planning.

“We were married in Bend, OR winter 2023 and it was an unforgettable day. One of the best decisions we made was hiring JD to capture our wedding day so we could enjoy watching it over and over each year. Wedding days are whirlwinds, and I was so thankful for the attention to detail that Wildwood Wedding Films took to ensure nothing was missed….”

Explore weddings along the San Diego coast

We're based in Oregon, and we film weddings throughout San Diego County — La Jolla, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and down to Point Loma. We plan around this coast's real conditions: the marine layer that softens June mornings, and the low, golden light that pours across the coves before sunset.

From a hacienda courtyard at Estancia to the cliffs at Sunset Cliffs — the venue changes, the keeping doesn't.

Even a rough date and venue will do. Send them over, and honest availability plus a detailed pricing guide land in your inbox within two business days.

Across 150+ weddings, no two films have ever matched. They can't. Your venue, your vows, your people decide what yours becomes.

Whether you're planning a grand celebration on the terrace at La Valencia or an intimate ceremony in a garden courtyard at Estancia — our work stays the same. Genuine, documentary-style memories and magazine-worthy images where you look confident and natural, even if you're camera shy.

Heirloom Films with Interviews: what turns a highlight film into a family heirloom is the people in it. On the day itself, we sit your parents, your best friends, your chosen family in front of a camera.

No couple sees their whole wedding. While you're off for sunset portraits, your people are telling your story without you. We capture it, so you hear it all later.

Couples can take the interview seat too, if you're up for it. Our favorite question: how has your love changed you?

Hybrid coverage makes this possible. Every camera we carry shoots photo and video, so we never stack two lenses on the same moment. While one of us captures your details, another is recording your Maid of Honor.

Then it all goes into the edit: the interviews, your vows, the toasts, the candid moments. What comes out is a film built for the long haul. You watch it on your first anniversary. Your grandkids watch it someday too.

La Jolla wedding videographer FAQs

What types of wedding films can we choose from?

Your options include a highlight film, a full ceremony film, and our signature heirloom film — highlight coverage woven with on-camera interviews from your loved ones, plus vows and toasts. Once you check your date, the pricing guide spells out each option in detail.

How is audio handled for vows and speeches at outdoor La Jolla venues?

We record on dedicated microphones separate from the cameras. Clifftop ceremonies come with surf noise and sea wind, so clean audio takes real planning — we mic the ceremony and reception properly, and your vows and toasts come through clearly in the finished film.

Can we hire you just as our videographers?

Absolutely — videography-only bookings are common, and we coordinate easily with outside photographers. Booking film and photo together from our one team saves $1,000 and includes your engagement session. But the choice is yours, and either way you get the same heirloom approach: interviews, clean audio, full-day coverage.

Is drone footage possible at La Jolla weddings?

Sometimes. Aerials over the coves are spectacular, but parts of La Jolla sit in restricted airspace — including the area around the Torrey Pines Gliderport — and many venues set their own rules. We confirm what's allowed in advance, and your ground-based cinematic coverage is complete either way.

When will our wedding film be delivered?

Heirloom films are edited by hand — interviews, vows, and toasts take time to weave well. We'd rather take that time than rush a film your family keeps for decades. Your contract states your exact delivery window before you book, so you'll know the timeline up front.
